To Make ye[the] Seed Cake Mrs Malbery

[inserted left margin: 16] Take a pounde of buter, a pinte of Creame, 8 Egs – ye[the] whites of 2, a qrter of a pinte of sack, as much of good ale yest[yeast], a qr[quarter] of a pound of orangeade Cut as Small as you think fit, half a qrt[quart] of a poun[inserted above: d] of Siteren Piell[citrus peel?], beaten to a paist, & worke it in in ye[the] Cake, yn[then] put in as much floure as will – make it in to a soft paist, set it before ye[the] fire to rise, & add a pound of caraway Comfits, make it up, & set it in a quick oven, a litele more yn[then] one houre will bake it.
