[inserted left margin: 14] Take 3 pound of treakle mace & cloves of each -- half an ounce 1 la[inserted above: r]ge nut megs half a qrter of refined Ginger ye [the] like quant[it]y of Cara way sedes a litele bet peper 2 large Candded Oran-ges [P]iell Cut very small mix all these together mix all these in ye [the] treakele, warm in a pot of -- warm water take as much wheat floure as ye [the] Treakele will make up in to a past as s[t]if as bread paist work it soundly & sprinkele a litele [S]ack upon it it will make it work smouth yn [then] make it up
