Water Proof- The following is the Chinese method for rendering cloth water-proof: To one oz of shite [text loss] (melted) add one quart of [illegible] of [illegible] [text loss] thoroughly mixed and cold, then dip in the cloth into the liquid and hang it up to drain till it is thoroughly dry. By the above [illegible] and [illegible] method, mu[slin] as well as the strongest cloths will be renderd quite impenetrable to the heaviest [gains] and that without the ingredients [was] either filling up the [illegible] of the cloth or injuring the texture or damaging at all the most brilliant colours
