Description
After the Virginia General Assembly's designation of George Mason College as a four-year degree-granting institution in March 1, 1966, a number of key studies were done by and on behalf of George Mason. Each implied greater expansion of and eventual independence from the University of Virginia for George Mason College.
The George Mason College of the University of Virginia Master Plan, detailed the infrastructure needed to accommodate a major university, while anticipating a student body of 15,000 in 1985. This document is the final published master plan completed in August 1968 by John Carl Warneke and Associates of Washington, D.C. This document contains: a Preface comprised of Intention and Scope, History of Development, and Summary of Recommendations; Regional Analysis of location, land use, and transportation; Site Analysis of the land; Space and Facilities Requirements; Master Plan Proposals for "concept", land use, and "massing and circulation", traffic, and phasing and development; Site Engineering (grading, drainage, and roads); Mechanical System Requirements (water, sewer, and other utilities); Financing; and Possible College Growth.
Contains 53 pages, spiral-bound.
