Venice, Italy

In May 1945 Jerome went on a pass to Venice, Italy, where the Army had set up a rest camp for soldiers. He described this visit in a letter written on June 1, 1945. During his stay in the city, Jerome and other soldiers took a trip through Venice's famous canals in DUKW amphibious vehicles, an event captured for posterity by a newsreel crew, a still of which is included on this page.
