Jerome's hometown, and where his parents lived throughout the war. In July of 1944 Jerome returned to Dayton on a "furlough", what we would today call leave. While Jerome didn't write any letters during this furlough, he discussed his visit to Dayton and his feelings on returning to the Army in two letters written upon his return to Camp Polk.
